Production

  • polyester fibres are woven by machine into a strapping of the desired width and thickness
  • the colouring and printing of the strapping is not a problem

Elasticity

  • the elasticity (elongation) of the cheaper Polyester (PET) is less than that of the Polypropylene (PP) strapping
  • this disadvantage is often used as a sales argument because the strapping would stress less. In the event of a pulsating load on trucks and ships the belt is more likely to break

Quality

  • the quality of the strapping is also determined by the quality of the fibres, the tightness of the weave and whether or not the weaving is done with pre-tension (see Elongation Graph)

Disadvantages

  • the strapping is fairly stiff and rigid, especially at lower temperatures
  • lower shock absorption than the Woven PP so less suitable for cargo seceuring

 Application

  • strapping heavy loads
