Production
- PP-granulate is melted and drawn trough a die gap creating strapping
- the strapping which is still hot can still be given a profile or print using press rollers
- the strapping is then drawn through a water bin to cool off and is wound onto a roll
Disadvantages
- if the strapping is too tight then it may suddenly burst
- originally intended for strapping machines for boxes
- tears easily in the longitudinal direction (strap fasteners)
- slackens within a few hours (loss of tension, dependent on ambient temerature)
|
Application
- strapping machines
- strapping a carton box

Dimensions
- 0.23 - 0.35 - 0.47 - 1/2 - 5/8 inch = 6 - 9 - 12 - 13 - 16mm
Fastenings
- join ends together by heating (Melting Friction for very light applications)
- flat seals
- steel buckles (often too heavy and too expensive for this light strapping)
- plastic buckles (generally used)
