Production

  • PP-granulate is melted and drawn trough a die gap creating strapping
  • the strapping which is still hot can still be given a profile or print using press rollers
  • the strapping is then drawn through a water bin to cool off and is wound onto a roll

Disadvantages

  • if the strapping is too tight then it may suddenly burst
  • originally intended for strapping machines for boxes
  • tears easily in the longitudinal direction (strap fasteners)
  • slackens within a few hours (loss of tension, dependent on ambient temerature)

Application

  • strapping machines
  • strapping a carton box

Dimensions

  • 0.23 - 0.35 - 0.47 - 1/2 - 5/8 inch  =  6 - 9 - 12 - 13 - 16mm

Fastenings

  • join ends together by heating (Melting Friction for very light applications)
  • flat seals
  • steel buckles (often too heavy and too expensive for this light strapping)
  • plastic buckles (generally used)
