Production

  • polyester fibres are laid alongside one anonther and drawn through a die gap where the fibres are melted with polyester creating strapping
  • the strapping is then drawn through a water bin to cool off, is possibly printed and is wound onto a roll
  • the diameter and number of the fibres determine the width of the strapping

Disadvantages

  • difficult to use, the strapping is fairly stiff and rigid, especially at lower temperatures
  • slackens within a few hours (loss of tension, dependent on ambient temperature)
  • if tightened hard then the PET layer of the fiber is stripped off in the buckle
  • tears very easily in the longitudinal direction along the fibres
  • becomes plastic at more than 30 degrees Celsiusor or 86 degrees Fahrenheit

Application

  • strapping of pallets with a heavier load

Dimensions

  • 1.0 - 1.5 inch  =  25 - 32mm

Fastenings used

  • steel buckle (flat seals are not strong enough)
